Tony Montague is a native of Gateshead and now lives in Whitley Bay. He is a graduate of Newcastle University and worked for many years in the engineering industry. 

He has always been active as a "weekend and self taught" painter but eventually took Fine Art courses at Newcastle College and Northumbria University.  He is a long-standing member of the North of England Art Club.  

He mostly concentrates on acrylic painting and collage, frequently combining both. He has developed an interesting series of collage works using only newspaper and ink.

He has exhibited extensively throughout the country and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Staniland award twice.  As well as private collections throughout the world his work has been purchased by corporates, the University of Northumbria, the Beamish Museum and the House of Lords.
